**”Be Still My Heart: A Chic Guide to Heart Burst Nails”**
Let me know if you’d like any further refinements!
Sometimes, inspiration strikes when you least expect it—whether you’re out for a walk, chatting with your hairstylist, or just taking a quick nap. This particular nail design idea came to me somewhere between my first sip of coffee and my mid-morning slump. I happened to glance to my left and spotted a random business card with a striking burst pattern featuring Marie Antoinette at the center. That’s when it hit me—I could recreate that same burst effect on my nails.
Instead of replicating the intricate details of Marie Antoinette’s face, I decided to go for a simple heart in a contrasting color. You can follow my lead with the heart design or switch it up with a star, dot, swirl, or any other shape that sparks your creativity. See how it all comes full circle?
For this design, you’ll need at least three nail polish colors. I went with nude, pink, and purple.
### Step One
Start by filing your nails and applying a base coat. Once it’s dry, paint one to two coats of your lightest color. Let it dry for at least 30 minutes—though I prefer waiting an hour just to be safe.
### Step Two
Next, apply tape to create clean lines. I used striping tape (which I found super cheap on eBay—$1 for 10 rolls), but you can also use trimmed Scotch tape. You’ll need four pieces for each nail.
### Step Three
Now, paint every other section of the taped-off triangles with your second color.
### Step Four
Wait about 10 to 20 minutes before carefully removing the tape. You’ll be left with a cool geometric design.
### Step Five
To create the hearts, use the back end of a paintbrush to make two small dots. If you don’t have a paintbrush, a straight pin, bobby pin, or dotting tool will work just as well.
### Step Six
Draw a V-shape underneath the two dots and fill in the center to complete the heart.
### Step Seven
Once the hearts are dry, apply a topcoat to seal in your design. Finally, use a cotton swab dipped in nail polish remover to clean up any polish around your cuticles.
And that’s it! A fun, eye-catching nail design that’s easy to customize with different colors and shapes.
