**Step-by-Step DIY Nail Art: Chic Geometric Design in Black, Blue, and Beige**
The fall 2012 runway moved away from the soft pastels of spring and summer, embracing deeper, moodier shades. One of the season’s standout color pairings is black and blue—a stylish combination that’s both bold and elegant.
As a nail polish enthusiast, I decided to blend these two shades with a nude accent for a unique manicure. You can mix and match any three colors based on your preference or stick with the ones I used.
To keep things budget-friendly, I chose Sinful Colors Professional Nail Polish in Why Not (a deep robin’s-egg blue), Rimmel London Lasting Finish Pro Polish in black, and Finger Paints Don’t Make a Scene (nude).
For this manicure, you’ll need three nail polishes, a base coat, a top coat, and striping tape. If you don’t have striping tape, you can use trimmed Scotch tape as an alternative.
**Step 1:**
Once your base coat is dry, paint all your nails with the lightest shade. Apply two or three coats if needed, and let them dry completely. To be safe, I usually wait at least an hour.
**Step 2:**
Place the striping tape on your nails in your desired pattern. You can follow my design, repeat the same pattern on each nail, or create your own.
**Step 3:**
Fill in one section of each nail with your second color.
**Step 4:**
Fill in another section with your third and final color. Allow your nails to dry completely.
**Step 5:**
Carefully remove the tape, then apply a top coat. Clean up any excess polish around your cuticles. I chose to fill in the nude spaces between the two colors on some nails, but you can leave them as they are for a modern, edgy look.
