Mastering the Art of Flawless Concealer Application

When it comes to applying concealer, there’s a bit of debate—should it go on before or after foundation? The truth is, both methods work, and using concealer before and after foundation can give you a flawless, natural finish. Here’s how to do it step by step.

First, choosing the right concealer is key. Pick a shade that matches the inside of your wrist, which should be slightly lighter than your overall skin tone. Also, pay attention to the undertone—yellow-based concealers help neutralize redness and dark circles on lighter skin, while peach-toned concealers work better for deeper skin tones.

Start with a clean face. Wash your skin, apply serum, and follow up with a moisturizer that includes SPF 30 for protection against UV damage. This not only keeps your skin healthy but also prevents future dark spots, reducing the need for extra concealer.

Before applying makeup, wash your hands. Then, using a fingertip or a Q-tip, dot concealer under your eyes and on any problem areas like your nose, chin, mouth, blemishes, or dark spots. Instead of rubbing, gently tap the concealer into your skin until it blends naturally.

Next, apply your foundation as usual, either by tapping it on or blending it gently with a makeup sponge. Once your foundation is set, check for any areas that still need coverage. If dark circles or blemishes are still visible, go back in with a little more concealer, dot it on, and tap it out for a seamless finish.

To lock everything in place, finish with a light dusting of powder. This method ensures an even, radiant complexion every time. If you’re struggling to get the perfect match, consider consulting a beauty expert to adjust your concealer or foundation shades.
